THE PERSPECTIVE IS BACK: A legacy of journalism. A new chapter for Liberia
In the 1996, as Liberia descended into civil war and much of the country’s independent media was silenced, a group of Liberian professionals in the United States came together to create something new: The Perspective, one of the first web-based publications dedicated to Africa, with a special focus on Liberia.
At a time when newspapers and radio stations were being shut down, journalists were being threatened, and reliable information was increasingly difficult to access, The Perspective became a vital bridge between Liberia and its people around the world.
Over the decades, theperspective.org evolved into more than a publication. It became a forum for ideas, a space for debate, and an important source of information for Liberians at home and throughout the diaspora.
Now, after a brief period of reorganization, The Perspective is back — with a new digital home:
theperspectivenews.com
The mission remains the same: to inform, to question, to provide a platform for diverse voices, and to contribute to the national conversation through responsible journalism.
The new Perspective carries forward a tradition built on independence, accuracy, fairness, integrity and respect for the truth.
Liberia has changed. Africa has changed. The media landscape has changed.
But the need for credible journalism, thoughtful analysis and an open exchange of ideas has never been greater.
Welcome back to The Perspective.
A trusted voice. A wider perspective. A new beginning.
